A review of experimental and theoretical achievements obtained in the field of the direct two-proton emission in the the last three years is given. The topics discussed include emission from excited states of 17Ne and 18Ne as well as from the ground state of 45Fe. A search for other candidates of two-proton radioactivity is mentioned. A design of a new type of time projection chamber with optical readout, suitable for studies of proton-proton correlations in the decay of 45Fe, is presented.
