A
-coincidence experiment on the N = 48 nucleus 90Mo was performed to investigate its collective behavior and to compare it with the well-studied N = 52 isotones on the other side of the N = 50 shell gap. Beside four new
transitions, a possible candidate for the one-phonon mixed-symmetry state was identified. The experimental results are compared to an IBM-2 calculation. Furthermore, the results are discussed in the context of the evolution of collectivity along the N = 48 compared to the N = 52 isotonic chain.
