QCD: The (1405) as a hybrid

Abstract

Using the QCD sum rule method, we estimate the mass of the lowest strange mixed hybrid/three-quark baryon with IJ ^P = 0(1/2)^- . We find the mass for a hybrid is approximately that of the (1405) , whose nature has been a puzzle for many decades. Possible tests of this result are discussed.
