The correlation of the rotational structure of the
-bands, with the
ground bands, of the even-Z even-N atomic nuclei of the mid mass region
is reviewed from the global view point. The variation of the energy level pattern with N and Z in the major shell (
,
) is illustrated quadrant-wise, through the moment of inertia plots. The correlations are viewed in terms of the dynamic symmetries of the Interacting Boson Model-1. The average value of the power index of the single term power law of level energies in the
-band is compared with the ground band. Its variation with neutron number N is displayed for Dy, Er and Os isotopic chains. The effect of the beta stability line across the quadrants is pointed out. Also the variation of the
-band head energy
with N and Z and its correlation with ground and
-band is analyzed.
