Abstract
The reaction $p n \to d \phi$ is studied within a covariant boson exchange model. The behavior of polarization observables being accessible in forthcoming experiments near threshold is predicted.

13.75.-n - Hadron-induced low- and intermediate-energy reactions and scattering (energy less than or equal to 10 GeV).
14.20.-c - Baryons (including antiparticles).
21.45.+v - Few-body systems.
