The present work provides a survey of our comprehensive study on reactions for Li +
Si and
Be +
Si at near barrier energies. It includes measurements on elastic scattering, total reaction cross section,
-production cross sections, breakup, fusion and transfer reactions. It provides an optical model theory for probing the potential threshold anomaly and for predicting total reaction cross sections and fusion cross sections. Additionally Continuum Discretized Coupled Channels are presented offering an insight to the above processes. Results on
Li +
Al and
Be +
Al and
Be +
Si are also presented and analyzed at the same theoretical contexts for deriving meaningful comparisons.
